Celestial Waters (Korth-P., – Korth-L.; 2023)

26”, 6”, EM, Dor., 4 branches, 22 buds, Tetraploid,

Healing Waters x Pinewood Mirror Lake

Our consistent effort in breeding for unique and hardy lavender (blue) eyed daylilies has paid off with plants like Celestial Waters.  The dominant feature in the flower is the large lavender eye that extends to the wide edge.  Around the eye is a band of violet mirrored in the edge.  The cream petal color is quite small but accents the other colors.

In the garden, Celestial Waters is a little shorter than most of our plants making it an ideal plant for the border edge.  The scapes are well budded and bloom above the foliage.  We had rebloom in 2023.  The foliage is dormant and hardy here in our harsh winters.

The flowers have a stiff edge that needs heat and humidity to open well.  The flowers do not hang up here and have few flaws but in cool weather, the petals edges do not always lay flat.  We expect that this flower will perform better south of us but each year we get many stunning flowers to enjoy here in our garden.

Fertile both ways, we are seeing many exciting seedlings from Celestial Waters.  It passes on the huge eye and edge as well as the beautiful colors to its offspring.  Adding Celestial Waters to your breeding program will give you many exciting seedlings.
