Heart of the Sea is from a fortuitous cross with our wonderful 2021 introduction Sign of Jonah. The genetic background includes southern evergreens like Blue Hippo and Blue Racer combined with our dormant and hardy plants developed here at Pinewood Gardens. The result is a fine garden plant and wonderful breeder.
In the garden, Heart of the Sea is an excellent performer. It has consistent blooms, nice scapes, and is a good, hardy grower for us. The tall scapes display the typically perfect flowers well.
As a breeder, Heart of the Sea is an easy pollen and pod parent. We already have at least two future introductions from it. If you are breeding for hardy lavender eyes, you will enjoy the combination of beauty and unique genetics Heart of the Sea offers.
